Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

Please read the sections on handicaps, scores, and meeting other members carefully. They describe real limits on what Fore is and what we are responsible for.

Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Fore Golf LLC, a California limited liability company (“Fore,” “we,” “us,” “our”). They govern your use of the Fore mobile app, foretheapp.com, and everything we offer through them (the “Services”).

By creating an account or using the Services, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines.

1. Who can use Fore

You must be at least 13 years old to use Fore. If you are under 18, you may use Fore only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms.

You may not use Fore if we have previously removed your account, or if doing so would break any law that applies to you.

2. Your account

Use your real identity. Fore is a professional and social golf network, and members rely on profiles being real. Use your own name and your own photo, and do not impersonate anyone else.

Keep your information accurate, including your handicap and the scores you post.

One account per person. Do not create accounts for other people or run multiple accounts.

You are responsible for your account. Keep your password private, and tell us at support@foretheapp.com if you think someone else has access to it.

3. Rules for using Fore

Our Community Guidelines are part of these Terms. In summary, you agree not to:

  • Post false scores or rounds you did not play
  • Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse another member
  • Post hate speech, sexual content, or content that is violent or graphic
  • Impersonate another person, a club, or a brand
  • Spam, promote, recruit, or run commercial offers through the feed, comments, events, or tee times
  • Scrape, copy, or bulk collect other members’ information
  • Interfere with the Services, probe them for weaknesses, or try to access data you are not entitled to
  • Use the Services to break the law

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules. Serious cases are removed on the first report.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. Your rounds, photos, comments, and profile remain yours.

You give us permission to show it. By posting content to Fore you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt for display, and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the Services. That includes showing your rounds in the Clubhouse feed, on leaderboards, on your profile, in events, and in the shareable scorecard images the app generates for you. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except as described in section 5.

You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it. Do not post photos you do not have the rights to.

We do not have to keep your content, and we may remove anything that breaks these Terms.

5. Rounds you play with other members are shared records

A round played with other members is a shared record. If you and three others score a round together, that scorecard is part of every one of your golf histories. It is not solely yours. Because of that:

  • Another member may enter scores for you. In group scoring one phone often keeps the card for the whole foursome. If you believe a score recorded for you is wrong, use the dispute feature on that round. Fore does not adjudicate who is right. The dispute is shown to the round’s host, and a disputed score can be marked unverified.
  • If you block a member, a round you already played together remains on both scorecards. Their name is hidden from your view of it. We do not delete a shared round, because doing so would erase the other players’ records.
  • If you delete your account, rounds you played with other members remain on their scorecards with your name removed. Courses you added to Fore also remain available to everyone. Everything else of yours is deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Handicaps: what Fore's number is and is not

Fore calculates a handicap index using the World Handicap System method. It is not an officially issued handicap index. Fore is not the USGA, is not a golf association or authorized handicap-issuing body, and is not affiliated with GHIN.

Do not use a Fore handicap where an official index is required. That includes club competitions, tournaments, interclub matches, and anywhere an authorized index is expected. For those, get an index from an authorized association.

Fore’s number is calculated from scores members enter themselves. We do not verify them. It requires at least three qualifying rounds before an index is established, and it will differ from an official index.

Do not rely on a Fore handicap for wagering. If you choose to play for money or anything of value, that is entirely between you and the people you are playing with. Fore is not involved, takes no part, and is not responsible for any dispute or loss.

7. Scores and course information are unverified

Scores on Fore are self-reported. We do not check them. Members can dispute a score, and rounds can carry an unverified marker, but Fore makes no representation that any score, round, leaderboard position, or statistic is accurate.

Course information may be wrong. Course names, pars, stroke indexes, tee ratings, slopes, and yardages come from third-party data providers and from members who add courses. We do not independently verify them. Do not rely on Fore’s course data for anything that matters. Check with the course.

8. Events, tee times, and meeting other members

Please read this section. It is the most important one for your safety.

Fore helps members find each other. Fore does not organize, host, supervise, or take part in anything that happens off the app.

  • We do not vet, screen, interview, or run background checks on members. Anyone can sign up. A member’s profile, job title, employer, and handicap are what that member typed in. We do not verify any of it.
  • Events and tee times on Fore are arranged between members. Fore is not a party to them, does not organize them, and is not a ticket seller, travel agent, or event promoter.
  • Fore does not handle money for events or tee times. Any cost shown for an event, such as a greens fee, is information a member entered. All payment happens directly between you, the other members, and the course. We do not process it and we are not responsible for it.
  • You are meeting people you do not know, and playing a physical sport, at your own risk. Golf carries risk of injury, including from stray golf balls, clubs, carts, weather, and terrain. Travel to and from a course carries risk. Meeting people you met online carries risk.
  • Use your judgment. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and stop if something feels wrong. Report members who behave badly, and block them.

To the fullest extent the law allows, you assume these risks, and Fore is not liable for any injury, loss, damage, or dispute arising from meeting, playing with, travelling with, or transacting with other members.

9. AI features

Fore uses artificial intelligence to turn a plain-English description into a draft event. The draft may be wrong, incomplete, or not what you meant. It is a starting point for you to review and confirm, not a finished product. You are responsible for checking an event before you publish it. Our Privacy Policy explains what is sent to our AI provider.

10. Reporting, moderation, and enforcement

You can report content and block members from inside the app. Reports are anonymous.

We review reports, but we do not promise to review any specific report, to review it within a particular time, or to reach the outcome you want. We may remove content, hide it, suspend an account, or terminate an account at our discretion, with or without notice, when we believe these Terms or the Community Guidelines have been broken.

Blocking is not a security control. It stops the ordinary ways a member can see or contact you inside the app. It cannot stop someone from creating another account or seeing something you posted publicly.

11. Copyright

If you believe content on Fore infringes your copyright, email support@foretheapp.com with: what work you own, where the content is on Fore, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorized, a statement that your notice is accurate, and your signature. We remove infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers.

12. Fees

Fore is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you clearly before you are charged and these Terms will be updated. Any paid features bought through the App Store are also subject to Apple’s terms.

13. Ending your use of Fore

You may leave at any time. Delete your account under Profile, then Delete Account. It is permanent and immediate.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if we are required to by law, or if we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect other members or Fore. Where we can, we will tell you why.

Sections 4 (the licence you granted, as limited there), 5, 6, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, and 17 continue to apply after your account ends.

14. Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content, handicap, score, leaderboard, or course information is accurate or reliable. We do not warrant the conduct of any member.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Fore and its members, managers, employees, and contractors are not liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages
  • Any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or golf records
  • Any injury, death, property damage, loss, or dispute arising from meeting or playing with another member, or from any event or tee time arranged through Fore
  • Any reliance on a Fore handicap, score, leaderboard, or course information
  • Any conduct or content of any member or third party

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

16. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Fore harmless from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Services, your content, your conduct toward other members, or your breach of these Terms.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you and Fore consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents either of us from seeking an injunction or from bringing a claim in small claims court.

18. General

Whole agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Community Guidelines are the entire agreement between you and Fore about the Services.

If a term is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term, we have not waived it.

You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Apple. These Terms are between you and Fore, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the Services and is not responsible for them. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them.

Changes. We may update these Terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Fore after a change takes effect, you accept it. If you do not agree, delete your account.
