Privacy Policy

Fore is a social network for golfers. In this policy, “Fore,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Fore Golf LLC, a California limited liability company. “Services” means the Fore mobile app and foretheapp.com.

We have tried to write this in plain language, and to describe only what we actually do.

Account information. Your email address and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes by our authentication provider. We never see or store your password.

Profile information. Your first and last name, age, job title, employer, industry, golf handicap, home course, how often you play, what you are looking for on Fore, and optionally links to your LinkedIn and Instagram profiles and a profile photo.

Golf activity. Rounds you post or score in the app, including the course, date, hole-by-hole scores, total score, format, and any notes you add. When you score a round with other players, the scores you enter for them are stored and attributed to that round.

Social activity. Members you follow, rounds you like, comments you write, members you mention, events you create or RSVP to, event chatter, tee times you post, and requests you send to join someone else’s tee time, including any note you attach.

Reports and blocks. If you report content we store what you reported, the reason, any note you add, and a copy of the reported content so we can review it even if the content is later deleted. If you block a member we store that.

Support requests. Anything you send us by email.

Push notification tokens. If you allow notifications, we store a token identifying your device so we can send them. It is deleted when you delete your account.

Basic technical information necessary to operate the app, such as the requests your device makes to our servers.

We want to be specific about this, because it is unusual:

• We do not collect your location. Fore has no GPS tracking, no location permission, and no location data of any kind. We know which course you say you played, because you told us. We do not know where you are.
• The app contains no analytics or tracking tools. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook SDK, no advertising identifier, and no session or attribution tracking in the Fore app. This website (foretheapp.com) uses Vercel Analytics, which counts page views and visitors in aggregate. It sets no cookies and does not build a profile of you or follow you across other sites.
• We do not show ads, and we do not share your information with advertisers.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
• We do not collect health data. Your handicap and your scores are golf performance figures, not health information. We collect no heart rate, no fitness metrics, and nothing from Apple Health.
• We do not access your contacts, microphone, calendar, or photo library beyond the single photo you choose to upload.

• To create and operate your account and profile
• To record your rounds and calculate a handicap index using the World Handicap System method
• To show you the Clubhouse feed, leaderboards, member profiles, events, and tee times
• To let you follow, like, comment on, and play rounds with other members
• To send notifications you have asked for, such as when someone follows you or comments on your round
• To send transactional email, such as email verification and event reminders
• To review reports, enforce our Community Guidelines, and remove content or members that break them
• To respond to your support requests
• To keep the Services working, diagnose problems, and improve them
• To comply with law

Please read this section carefully. Fore is a social network, and much of it is visible by design.

Your profile (name, photo, age, job title, employer, industry, handicap, home course, member number, and any social links you add) is visible to other Fore members.

Your rounds, scores, likes, comments, events, tee times, and who you follow are visible to other members through the Clubhouse feed, leaderboards, and your profile.

Profile photos are stored in public cloud storage. Your profile photo can be viewed by anyone who has its direct link, including people who are not Fore members and are not signed in.

Assume that anything you post on Fore may become visible beyond Fore. Other members can screenshot or share what they see. Some of our data is currently readable without signing in, and we are actively working to restrict that. Do not post anything to Fore that you would not be comfortable being seen publicly.

Rounds you play with other people are shared records. If you played a round with three other members, that scorecard belongs to their history too. If you block a member, or delete your account, rounds you played together remain on the other players’ scorecards, though your name is removed from them.

We do not sell your information. We share it only with service providers who help us run Fore, and only what they need:

• Supabase hosts our database, authentication, and file storage, and therefore holds all of the information described above.
• Vercel hosts foretheapp.com and provides the aggregate, cookieless website analytics described above. It does not receive your Fore account information.
• Expo delivers push notifications and app updates, and receives your device push token and the contents of a notification.
• Resend sends transactional email, and receives your email address and the contents of that email.
• Anthropic powers the “describe your event” feature. It receives only the event description you type there and the course you selected. It is processed to build your event and is not used to train models. We do not log what you enter or the result.
• GolfCourseAPI lets you add a course Fore does not have yet. It receives only the course name you search for. No personal information is sent.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith it is necessary to prevent serious harm, to investigate violations of our Terms or Community Guidelines, or to protect our legal rights.

If Fore is ever acquired or merged, your information may transfer as part of that transaction. We would tell you before that happened.

See and change your information. Your profile is editable in the app at any time under Edit Profile.

Control notifications. Settings, then Notifications, or your device settings.

Block a member. Their profile, then Block. You will not see each other anywhere in Fore, any follows between you are removed, and they cannot comment on your rounds, add you to a round, or send you notifications. Manage your list under Settings, then Blocked Members.

Report content. Long press a round or a comment, or use Report on a member’s profile. Reports are anonymous. The member is not told who reported them.

Delete your account. Profile, then Delete Account. This is permanent and immediate. It deletes your profile, your photo, your rounds and handicap history, your follows, likes and comments, your event RSVPs, and your notification settings. As described above, rounds you played with other members remain on their scorecards with your name removed, and courses you added remain available to everyone. We keep records of reports about your conduct where we need them to keep other members safe.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to delete it, to opt out of its sale or of targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. For any other request, email support@foretheapp.com. We will not treat you differently for asking.

Fore is not for children. You must be at least 13 years old to use Fore, and the App Store rates it 13+. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email support@foretheapp.com and we will delete it.

Your information is stored with our hosting provider using encryption in transit and at rest, and access is restricted to the small number of people who need it to operate Fore. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.

No service is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. We are a small team and we are continuing to strengthen our controls. If you find a security problem in Fore, please tell us at support@foretheapp.com. We would genuinely rather hear it from you.

We keep your information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account it is removed immediately, other than the shared-round records and safety records described above. Backups are retained for a short period before being overwritten.

If we change this policy we will post the updated version here with a new date. If the change is significant we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
